Kwai Chung Energy Care Community Action 2.0 - Low Carbon Community Leader Training Workshop

CarbonCare InnoLab conducted "Energy Care Community Action - Kwai Chung '' programme launches a brand-new community education project, aiming at the community to practice climate adjustment and climate justice, and build a community with high climate resilience. Kwai Chung District is our first community goal. It is hoped that in the future, other areas of Hong Kong can be developed to promote low-carbon life and practice climate justice. This workshop helps those Low Carbon Community leaders to prepare for the "LED Lighting activity" in the coming February, hope Low Carbon social leaders can learn different skills of changing light tubes and communicating with sub-divided flats.

We held the Low Carbon Community Leader Training Workshop on 31st Jan in “Health in Action” Centre. There were 13 participants who comes from Evangelical Lutheran Church Social Service - Hong Kong ELCHK, North District Integrated Youth Service Centre and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups  joined the workshop.

The workshop is divided into two parts. Firstly, we talked about the living conditions of sub-divided flats and the knowledge of air condition. For instance, how the heat night and typhoon day affect their quality of life. Through the workshop, Low Carbon Community Leader can understand the details of our project which is EnergyCare Community Action - Kwai Chung. Low Carbon Community leaders showed their interest in our projects and hoped that they can take part to help sub-divided flats to change the light into LED ones. Low Carbon Community leaders hope to help sub-divided flats to reduce electricity expenses, and consumption and extend light durability afterward through our project.

Secondly, we taught the Low Carbon Community leaders to change the LED light tube and use the photo meter and air detector. They put in effort in the workshop, and with the help of our members, they can finish the workshop successfully. Furthermore, we also explained to the Low Carbon Community leaders the things that they need to pay attention to during home visits, hoping to make the LED Light changing project smoother.
