CarbonCare InnoLab (CCIL) has selected 6 outstanding alumni from cohort 2 to 4 of the ‘’Climate Advocacy Training for Youth” programme to attend COP28 in Dubai UAE as Hong Kong’s Youth Delegates this year. We have also invited last year’s youth delegate Hiuching Chan to join the team to carry on her work on youth empowerment and climate justice. Meanwhile, CCIL has selected 3 outstanding alumni from the programme to attend Asia-Pacific Climate Week 2023 in Johor state of Malaysia, discussing regional climate issues. It aims to build momentum ahead of the COP28 in Dubai and the conclusion of the first Global Stocktake. CCIL hopes to provide more opportunities for Hong Kong youth to engage in the discussion of global climate change issues, interact with young people around the world and enhance youth collaboration, in order to advocate for more inclusive, innovative and effective climate policies locally. Youth delegates hope to show world leaders the determination of Hong Kong Youth in driving local climate actions, respond to international climate commitments and promote climate justice. CCIL hopes that the youth will reflect on climate issues after COP, become drivers in achieving Hong Kong's net-zero goal, and actively encourage more young people to participate in climate action.

The Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, known as COP, is the decision-making body responsible for monitoring and reviewing the implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. It brings together the 197 nations and territories, called parties, that have signed on to the Framework Convention. The COP has met annually since 1995. COP21, held in Paris, France, in December 2015, was historic in its outcome – the Paris Agreement, as the first-ever legally binding international climate agreement. COP28, held in Dubai, UAE, from 30 November to 12 December 2023, focused on climate adaptation, the Loss and Damage Fund, phasing out fossil fuels, and evaluation of Global Stocktake. All four areas play a significant role in keeping our progress on track towards the 1.5°C target.

Coming from an interdisciplinary background as a LLB graduate, with double Minors in Urban Studies and Anthropology, and experiences covering social design, planning and urban culture, I become aware of the 'human' side of climate change, intersecting at health, housing, social network, livelihood and well-being. Taking 'city' as my fundamental interest unit, I am keen on exploring climate adaptation and resilience in a dense urban context - particularly, how we can prepare an ageing population against climate change. I hope to look for future aspirations and risks, and deliver human changes at the community level.
