Kwai Chung Low Carbon Community Action X Windshield Charitable Foundation Kwai Chung Social Services Climate Crisis and Energy Talk
CarbonCare InnoLab conducted "Energy Care Community Action - Kwai Chung '' programme launches a brand-new community education project, aiming at the community to practice climate adjustment and climate justice, and build a community with high climate resilience. Kwai Chung District is our first community goal. It is hoped that in the future, other areas of Hong Kong can be developed to promote low-carbon life and practice climate justice. The service targets are subdivided households and elderly people living alone. We hope that more people in need will be benefited when the project develops more mature.
The 2nd Climate Crisis and Energy Talk hosted by CarbonCare Innolab on 24 Sep was again a great success with few Kwai Chung’s citizens from new immigrants and grassroot families. The target neighbourhoods are mostly new immigrants and basic-level families. The lecture aims to educate them about the close relationship between the climate crisis and their housing. For example, due to the continuous temperature rise caused by extreme weather, the residential tenants cannot avoid turning on the air-conditioning more frequently, which indirectly causes problems such as rising electricity bills. The climate crisis has a direct and heavy burden on low-income people. At the same time, we hope to educate the citizens about energy saving, starting from life. For the new immigrants, they learned more about the climate crisis in Hong Kong from the lectures. As a member of Hong Kong, everyone can work together to respond to the climate. Starting from the individual level, once you have a basic understanding of the climate/energy crisis, you can also share or promote your concern about climate disasters with your relatives and friends.
CarbonCare InnoLab has a series of climate and energy lectures for different social groups and classes, aiming to promote climate disasters and changes in energy use, hoping to let everyone know climate change is closely related to us, regardless of living environment or income. Everyone is deeply affected by the climate crisis.
