Climate Fresk X Man Kwan Pak Kau College

On May 14th and 21st, 2024, CarbonCare InnoLab(CCIL) organised two sessions of  "Climate Fresk" game for the Form 1 students of Man Kwan Pak Kau College. The game aimed to help students understand the complex causes and impacts of climate change through playing with cards.

Climate change is a major crisis we are facing, but the related knowledge is extensive, involving various fields such as geography, chemistry, biology, and social sciences. The reasons and impacts are often interconnected. The Climate Fresk game introduced from France uses an interesting approach to help us understand how human behaviour contributes to the climate crisis.

More than 60 students participated in the game sessions. We divided the students into groups and assigned each group a set of cards describing the causes and impacts of climate change for them to sort out. Then, we added more cards in each round to make the game more challenging. Throughout the process, students could learn scientific knowledge about climate change. Some students mentioned that the activity was interesting and helped them acquire new knowledge.

We hope that this game will raise their awareness of how every action we take can potentially impact nature and encourage them to make more environmentally friendly choices in their daily lives.
