Solar InnoWorkshop x Caritas HK Sham Shui Po Family Supports Network: DIY Solar Light Jar
Partnered with Caritas HK Sham Shui Po Family Supports Network, we held a DIY workshop under the “Solar Innovation Workshop” in a sunny morning on 3rd July. Around 30 participants joined us to create solar energy decorative lights.
The theme that day was “Sunflower”. We hope that by creating daily life items, the interest of the participants in carbon reduction and arts can be aroused. All of us successfully completed the creative and eco-friendly artworks under the clear guide from our instructors. Everyone enjoyed the process and focused on following the instructors’ instructions to outline and colour the glass bottle carefully. The parents and their kids found the processes very interesting, unleashing their creativity in painting the bottles. The participants are very interested in how solar power works and said that they will be aware of the environment and reusable energy more in the future.
The solar panels absorb sunlight to recharge its battery and to keep the lights glow. The light strings can be used for up to 25000 hours (which is around 2.9 years). The innovative designs by our participants and the durability of the light strings have turned the Solar Light Jars into eco-friendly and beautiful decorations at home. It can also replace the non-reusable lanterns for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival as a more eco-friendly alternative.
