The First Session of the 2nd Climate Advocacy Training for Youths (CATY)

CarbonCare InnoLab (CCIL)’s Climate Advocacy Training for Youth (CATY) Programme aims to nurture young people who advocate for sustainable development. The programme includes workshops and activities, allowing our students to learn from experts and youth advocates in Hong Kong and overseas.

The first session of the 2nd CATY was held on the 27th of November at the Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change (MoCC) located at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The 21 students of CATY got to meet their classmates who are all passionate about making changes and impact to environmental, climate, sustainability-related issues.

Starting off with an interactive ice-breaking game (the Climate Fresk Game), students had the chance to interact with their classmates during this cooperative activity. The game also allowed students to share their own insights and knowledge on the cause and consequences of climate change.

Next, students were grouped to discuss different realms of climate change-related policies, which include public policymaking, environmental education, green building, and the renewable energy industry. etc.

Last but not least, Mr. Hahn Chu, the Director of Environmental Advocacy was here to share his 20+ years of experience in environmental advocacy, teaching the future advocates to effectively undergo climate change advocacy campaigns.

Before the end of our class, a guided tour around the MoCC was conducted by the venue staff. With detailed explanation and the diverse exhibits in the museum, it helped deepen our understanding of the linkage amongst the natural environment, human and society.

CarbonCare InnoLab is expecting students to achieve higher and becomes impactful advocates soon after the rewarding learning experience from CATY.
