ATS: “Hang Seng Low Carbon Future – Low Carbon Schools” 2024/25 Academic Year Closing Ceremony
On 2 July 2025, CarbonCare InnoLab (CCIL) held the “Hang Seng Low Carbon Future – Low Carbon Schools” Closing Ceremony at Aberdeen Technical School (ATS). The event marked the successful conclusion of a series of climate education activities throughout the academic year. On the day, we presented a number of awards to recognise and encourage students who participated in the climate education activities. We also announced the results of the school’s carbon audit and took the opportunity to introduce the concept of carbon auditing to the students.
To begin, Ms Ivy Leung, Executive Director of CCIL, delivered a speech reviewing the year’s climate education activities and encouraged students to pay more attention to stay engaged with climate issues. We collected ATS’s greenhouse gas emission data for the 2023–24 academic year and compiled a carbon audit report. Mr Kwok Hiu Chung, Senior Programme Manager of CCIL, shared the data and some low-carbon living tips.
Next, four students who had completed the “Solar Energy Tour Guide” Training at the Science Club shared their knowledge of solar energy on stage, and also introduced the solar PV system installed on the school’s rooftop. These junior secondary students spoke with clarity and confidence, showcasing both their learning achievements and enthusiasm.
Then the prize-giving ceremony recognised students who had excelled in various climate education activities. Awards were presented as follows:
The "No Air-Con Night" Challenge:
- Student with the highest total hours of participation (10 students in total)
- Top 3 classes with the highest number of students’ participation
“Solar Energy Tour Guide” Training: 4 students who successfully completed the training
Online Climate Quiz Game: Top 3 highest-scoring students
In addition to presenting awards, we also shared the results of the “No Air-Con Night” and the “Lai See Reuse and Recycle Program 2025” with the students. We hope that in the days ahead, students will continue to learn about climate change and actively participate in future activities.
