Solar InnoWorkshop X HK Christian Service Pario Kindergarten: Solar Light Jar Workshop
Two sessions of Solar Light Jar Workshop were held in HK Christian Service Pario Kindergarten on 20 April, a total of 52 children participated in the workshops. The entire atmosphere of the workshop was delightful.
We began the workshop by introducing the background of climate change as well as solar energy. It is surprising that many children have already heard of solar energy. They raised their hands and respond actively throughout the workshop. The participants left this workshop with a deeper understanding of solar energy and teachers will teach them more about climate change issues very soon. It is hoped that the talk can help kindergarten students raise awareness and interest in solar energy!
In the second half of the event, students started creating their own solar light jars. The children were very attentive and interested in designing the light jars, not to mention how creative they were. For example, they drew beautiful patterns like ocean animals, and flowers, along with cartoon characteristics. Even though some difficulties were faced during the workshop, they successfully made attractive and lovely light jars by helping each other at the end.
We were glad to see so many children enjoy this activity. They learnt more about the basics of solar energy and how it can be used to power small devices. They were happy and satisfied with creating a unique and functional solar-powered device. Not only did the participants learnt a lot, but also our tutor. Educating about climate change and solar energy knowledge was also a great learning opportunity for our tutor. We will hold more similar activities in the coming future, stay tuned!
