Climate Action Seminar & release of the first Paris Watch Hong Kong Report Card
Date: April 2, 2019

Hong Kong is one of the most vulnerable coastal cities under the climate change challenge. The Paris Agreement, agreed by world leaders in 2015, laid down a global roadmap for climate mitigation and adaptation.

CarbonCare InnoLab’s Paris Watch project sets out to ask the question: "Is Hong Kong doing enough to deliver its part of the Paris Climate Agreement?" We pose this question in order to help raise HK’s ambition level and ensure that we can state that Hong Kong, as a wealthy mega-city, is taking its proper responsibility for climate action.

In this seminar we will explain the results of year one findings and compare Hong Kong’s climate performance with other major Asian cities. The Hong Kong Report Card, which judges Hong Kong’s climate action in a way that is relatable to the general public, will be released for the first time. Leading academics and industry experts will respond to the findings and share their insights on climate policies and solutions ahead of the Hong Kong Government’s consultation on the city’s decarbonisation strategy.
