Climate change has resulted in some disadvantaged communities lacking access to clean drinking water, which affects their health and safety. Sin Lok Tin, a student at the S.K.H. Kei Yan Primary School, aims to establish an affordable and user-friendly solar-powered water purification system to help those in need.
His designed device, “Solar Water Purifier- Air Quench”, consists of components such as solar panels, a battery storage system, a cooling device, a filter, and a water tank. When air is drawn into the device, the cooling device condenses the humidity in the air into water droplets, which are then stored in the water tank. The water in the tank undergoes filtration before being made available for drinking. This device can provide outdoor workers and individuals in need with access to water at any time in Hong Kong.
