CarbonCare InnoLab "Decode COP30 Seminar"
From Global Negotiation to Local Action: Strategies and Initiatives by NGOs to Promote Climate Resilience

Starting in 2023, CarbonCare InnoLab has hosted an annual Decode COP Seminar, inviting representatives from various sectors to discuss the progress of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP) and its implications for Hong Kong. This year's “Decode COP30 Seminar” will highlight key takeaways from COP30, explore strategies to strengthen the resilience of NGOs against climate risks, and foster meaningful cross-sector collaboration to drive climate action in Hong Kong.

Thematic discussion: Development Strategy for Climate Resilience in NGOs

Climate change has profound impacts on NGOs’ daily operations and the communities they serve. Incorporating climate challenges into long-term planning and exploring more resilient and flexible operational models—especially in the face of extreme climate risks—has never been more critical.

This discussion will guide participants through the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA) and explore how to embed climate resilience thinking into organizational development strategies. The aim is to help NGOs strengthen their capacity to respond to climate risks, reduce the climate risk that vulnerable groups are facing, and collectively foster a sustainable and resilient future for society.

Through small-group participation, the workshop will be divided into themed sessions and guided by Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA). Together with participants, we will co-design practical and actionable local climate action plans, develop more inclusive and participatory community service models, strengthen climate resilience for vulnerable groups, and build a more resilient and inclusive society.
