Building a self-sufficient hot spring resort that makes use of renewable energy

Many people like to travel freely and comfortably, yet, have you ever thought of contributing to environmental protection and the future of the local community? This is the concept of "sustainable tourism", which is dedicated to minimizing the negative impact of travelling to the environment, so that the next generation can continue to enjoy travelling without destroying the local ecology and developing a sustainable economy. GeoLAGON, a Canadian company, is planning to start building the world's largest hot spring resort in 2023, making use of renewable energy to power and heat the facilities, hoping to make the resort “self-sufficient”.

The new project in Canada has three phases. The establishment of log cabins is the first important step. Then a geothermal lagoon would be built. The energy ecosystem and thermal power bank, among which thermal power bank would be powered by an energy ecosystem composed of geothermal, biomass, and solar heating technologies for further optimization and heat recovery, and a self-sufficient tourism economic circle can be established for the local area. At the final stage, these cabins will be rented out in the form of Airbnb to develop the sharing economy in a convenient way. The solar coating on the exterior wall of the log cabin can absorb solar energy to power the heat pump, convert more renewable energy, and provide energy to the lagoon and thermal storage.

With the completion of this large-scale hot spring resort in the near future, it is believed that other resorts in the world may gradually adopt renewable energy technologies and jointly promote the development of environmental protection businesses. As a considerate tourist, would you want to preserve the environment while travelling? Would you visit these sustainable destinations next time? I believe you will not only enjoy your trip, but you will also have a better understanding of sustainable tourism.
