Funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, CarbonCare InnoLab (CCIL) is proud to organise “Jockey Club SolarCare Programme” and provide renewable energy capacity building to NGOs in Hong Kong. We accelerate the use of solar energy and reduce carbon emissions for mitigating climate change crisis. Our team will cooperate with 70 SolarCare Partners and deliver professional on-grid solar energy system construction services without capital installation cost.

CCIL aims to achieve the objectives below with our SolarCare Partners:

(1) leverage the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) Scheme for developing a sustainable renewables service hub

(2) empower and engage participating organisations and institutions with a stable and long-term financial support for charitable purpose

(3) visualise the viability and scalability of renewable energy in Hong Kong with a view to accelerate the migration to renewable energy in Hong Kong

(4) raise public awareness on low-carbon economy and promote community programs on potential of developing renewable energy in Hong Kong

(1) To enjoy vetted and qualified solar energy system service

(2) To receive ongoing life cycle management of solar energy system, such as system upgrade, maintenance service and advices on energy saving

(3) To benefit from the FiT rebate from the solar energy system

 

Eligibility

There is a process of assessment for an NGO to become our SolarCare Partner: 

• Register charitable organisation under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance
• Complete a due dilligence
• Provide rooftop or open space for solar energy system installation
• Committed to contribute to the community engagement activities in the project
• Technically feasible for installation
• A long term commitment
• Top Management Endorsement
• Contribute ~50% of FiT rebate to SolarCare's Maintenance & Community Project Reserve Fund 
• Promote climate change, renewable energy and energy saving to the community
• Commit to provide report on the impact of FiT rebate with photos

 

How to Apply?

We invite NGOs to register their interest in building a sustainable Hong Kong through boosting the solar energy portion in the current energy mix.
