Solar InnoWorkshop x Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Healthy Budgeting Family Debt Counselling Centre: DIY Solar Wood Watch

2020-09-19

Have you ever thought that discarded wood can be transformed into a fashionable and durable watch?

CarbonCare InnoLab and the Hong Kong brand "Wood Watch" held a "Solar Watch Workshop" on September 19, 2020. Leon, the founder of "Wood Watch", was invited to teach the participants. Participants used environmentally friendly recycled wood to match Japanese movements with their hands. Make simple and stylish solar watches.

Making a watch is no easy task. In addition to the large number of participants, the workshop is conducted online. Tutors need to teach in two virtual rooms in batches at the same time to follow up the progress of the students. The participants listened attentively to the tutors’ explanation throughout the process and followed it step by step. It is very difficult to install the hands of the watch. Most students find that they are not in the right position after assembling, and they have to disassemble and reinstall. The tutor was also anxious about it and wanted to help, but in the case of air teaching, the students can only rely on their own efforts. In the end, the tutors patiently demonstrated and played the video back and forth. The participants also tried repeatedly, and finally placed the pointer on the movement accurately, and then entered the straight road to successfully complete the meticulous masterpiece.

It can be completed smoothly across the screen. The distance is really unimpeded. Everyone's determination to learn and protect the environment. Some students were extremely focused during the process, they were patience and kept their hands steady, otherwise it will be difficult to complete; some students need to take care of the children in the family while making, this spirit of making good use of time to learn is really admirable.

Looking at their own wooden watch, the participants also said that making a watch requires extraordinary skills, and they are extremely new to this skill. The solar panels of the watch are embedded in the watch, and the design is beautiful and stylish, and the students all said they would wear it out.

In fact, as long as you spend a little thought, a piece of seemingly useless waste wood can be upgraded and rebuilt to become a fashionable watch. You may also wish to be more creative in your daily life and upgrade the waste.
