SideBySide is a non-profit social service organisation that helps people belong by providing understanding and unwavering support. They promote inclusivity, address factors contributing to crime, and provide practical services to help excluded people reintegrate into society.
Since 1957, SideBySide has encouraged social inclusion and addressed factors contributing to crime, giving released prisoners guidance with kindness and paths to acceptance. They now help other marginalised, at-risk groups.
Their team promotes belonging among at-risk people through their practical services: Social Rehabilitation, Mental Wellness, Competency Development, Community Education, Cultural Inclusion, and Community Connection. These diversified services offer practical support to people in need.
Yee Tsui House under SideBySide was officially operated in 1995, providing 32 places for female persons in recovery (PIR) with a transitional period of residential care service. It is also a purpose-built halfway house which provides services to PIRs with assessed disposition to violence.
They provide professional service to PIRs through a team composed of a registered social worker, a registered psychiatric nurse, hostel staff and supporting staff. This halfway house practices the Recovery Model, which encourages PIRs to develop their strengths and potential, as well as to give a sense of capability and bring hope to enrich their life. Besides, they are devoted to ensuring PIRs to obtain community resources for their recovery and well-being by establishing and maintaining supportive community relationships in society.
32 pieces of solar photovoltaic(PV) panels were installed on the rooftop of the house, with a system capacity of 17.6 kWp. Its power generation in the first year was 6,286 kWh.

A solar system is installed on the rooftop of SideBySide

The rooftop has an irregular shape, with a hexagonal canopy in the center. We have utilised the available space on the rooftop and installed 7 sets of solar panels there.

Before installing solar systems, we trimmed the tree branches that would block the sunlight.
