Established in 1950, Ching Chung Taoist Association of Hong Kong Limited (Ching Chung Taoist) is a Taoist temple and a non-profit charitable, religious organisation, aiming to carry forward Taoism and to benefit mankind. Throughout the years, Ching Chung Taoist's main focus has been on charitable services. Apart from religious services, it also provided charitable services, such as setting up schools that provided free education, setting up dormitories for elderlies, providing free medical consultation and medicine, and donating rice, relief supplies and winter clothes, according to the society’s changing needs.

With permission from the government, for over 60 years, Ching Chung Taoist has set up Western medicine clinics, Chinese medicine clinics, nursing homes and elderly community centres, providing various types of social welfare services to the public. Also, Ching Chung Taoist is keen on promoting education and nurturing youngsters. It established secondary schools, primary schools and kindergartens, and set up Hong Kong Taoist College which does research on Taoist culture, hoping to use Chinese culture to nurture talents. Ching Chung Taoist has also made donations to more than 200 temples in China, helping them to renovate and rebuild, and it also sponsored the setting up of Chinese medicine clinics and promoting school education.

Ching Chung Care & Attention Home for the Aged is a government-subsidised elderly care unit under Ching Chung Taoist. It started running in March 2016, with a supply of 120 residential care places for elderlies. It provides comprehensive care services for elderlies aged 65 and above who are frail and without the ability to look after themselves.

The solar panels are installed on the frames on the rooftop, and they won’t increase the burden of the rooftop.

The weather station collects irradiance and ambient temperature data, which allows engineers to examine the performance of the system from the detected data. It could also be used for taking preventive measures, monitoring potential risks and making timely corrections to the system if necessary.

A solar water heating system was originally installed on the rooftop. Different from solar photovoltaic systems, this system convert solar energy into heat, using for water heating purpose.
