Founded in 1973 as a registered non-profit and non-government-funded non-profit organisation, Hong Kong Youth Hostels Association (HKYHA) is one of the 90 national associations affiliated with Hostelling International (HI), the worldwide umbrella organisation that provides members with information covering over 4,000 youth hostels and other travel benefits. HKYHA operates 7 youth hostels across Hong Kong and currently has an individual membership of more than 30,000 people and group membership of over 600.

HKYHA’s mission is to provide safe, simple, and affordable hostelling services to young people and travellers from all over the world. Our hostels also serve as educational platforms that allow travellers to broaden their horizons, to learn about different cultures, and to be in touch with nature and heritage conservation.

Situated next to the Chek Keng Pier, YHA Bradbury Hall Chek Keng Youth Hostel is the destination for outdoor junkies all year round. Fishing from the pier in spring, enjoying all kinds of water sports under the hot summer sun at the water sports centre, and hiking in autumn and winter. Campers can also walk along the Maclehose Trail to Tak Long Au and the mangrove at To Kwa Peng and even challenge themselves to reach Sharp Peak, the highest spot in Sai Kung, to marvel at the natural wonders at Tai Long Wan. Their facilities include dormitory, Bell Tent, Tent, Barbecue Site, Kitchen, etc.

54 pieces of solar photovoltaic(PV) panels were installed on the rooftop of 3 dormitories, with a system capacity of 29.16 kWp. Its estimated power generation in the first year was 25,178 kWh.

The solar panels were directly mounted onto the tiled roof by drilling holes through the tiles for secure fastening. To prevent any potential water leakage, we have applied a waterproof sealant at the connection points.
