“Jockey Club Solar Care Programme” Online Briefing

Date: 30 June, 2022 (Thursday)
Time: 14:30-15:30
Language: Cantonese

In order to promote the use of renewable energy, the Hong Kong government launched the “Feed-in Tariff”(FiT) policy, bringing income to solar energy system owners. The payback period is expected to be within ten years. The “Jockey Club SolarCare Programme” launched by CarbonCare InnoLab(CCIL) in 2019, benefits local NGOs. This programme delivers professional on-grid solar energy system construction services to NGOs without capital installation cost. More than 10 organisations have joined the programme. 2144 solar panels have already been installed, with a total system capacity of 864.79 kWp. Many organisations stated that by joining the programme, their electricity bill expenses were largely reduced. The amount saved was used on their charitable or community services, and helped them to release economic pressure under the pandemic.

The FiT plan will be finished in 31 December 2033. The sooner you join the plan, the longer time you would gain monthly rebates. Moreover, the government adjusted the FiT rates in 27 April this year, decreasing the rates from “HK$3 to 5” per kWh to “HK$2.5 to 4” per kWh. If you are still considering, it’s better to take action now.

CCIL organise an online briefing session of the Jockey Club SolarCare Programme, introducing the programme to interested NGOs. We would also reply enquiries about the programme, the application procedures of FiT, the installation and management of solar power systems. We have invited our NGO partners to share, to let you know more about the details.

You are invited to join the briefing session and join us in Hong Kong’s energy transition!
